How do I organize my Add-on Items in Categories?

Please note: Item Categories are currently only available for Prepaid reservations. You'll toggle on "Prepaid Reservation" under Step 4 or 5 to create Categories.

Category Templates

When Creating Item Categories, you can use these Category Templates:

  • Beverage Pairing: Enhance a meal with a wine or cocktail pairing.
  • Merchandise: Sell cookbooks, t-shirts, and other goods.
  • Prix-Fixe: Create a multi-course meal with options.

Otherwise, you can select "Start From Scratch" and make your own Category.



How to Create Categories for Reservation Items

  1. Go to the online dashboard and select “Service” then “Shift Settings”.
  2. Tap the three dots and select “Edit Shift”.
  3. Scroll to “Step 4” and select “Reservation Settings” then “Items”.
  4. Toggle on “Prepaid” and enter the required fields.
  5. Scroll down to “Items” and tap “Add/Edit Items”.
  6. Tap "Create Category".
  7. Choose a Category Template or “Start from Scratch”.


If you select a Category Template, the Category Name (i.e., Beverage Pairing, Merchandise, or Prix-Fixe) will be chosen for you. You’ll then need to take the following steps.

Next, tap the pencil icon and complete the following fields:

  • Description (Optional)
  • Pricing (Choose one)
  • Booking Rules (Toggle on/off)

Finally, tap "Add Items" and select the Items you want to "Add to Category".

Please noteIf you need to create add-on Items, check out these articles! 


If you select Start from Scratch, you will need to take the following steps.

  1. Complete the following fields:
    • Category Name (Required)
    • Description (Optional)
    • Pricing (Choose one)
    • Booking Rules (Toggle on/off)
  2. Tap the "Next, Add Items" button and select the Items you want to "Add to Category".
  3. Then, tap "Create Category" and “Save”. 




How to Create a Category for Custom Reservation Items

  1. Go to the online dashboard and select “Service” then “Shift Settings”.
  2. Tap the three dots and select "Edit Shift".
  3. Scroll to “Step 5” and select “Customize Policies” then “Customize Tables”.
  4. Select “Tables” and tap “Next” then complete the reservation name.
  5. Tap the "Items" tab.
  6. Choose a Category Template or "Start from Scratch".
  7. Complete the category fields.
  8. Add the desired "Items" to the category.
  9. Click “Save”.





How to Manage Categories for Items

How to Edit Categories:

  1. Tap the pencil icon next to the category name.
  2. Choose "Edit for this Reservation" or choose "Edit Everywhere".



Please note: When you choose "Edit for This Reservation" the updates will only affect that shift. If you choose "Edit Everywhere", it will update everywhere this item is currently being used.

 

How to Order Categories:

  1. Tap the arrow icon next to the pencil icon.
  2. Tap the arrow up or down to change the order.



How to Remove a Category:

  1. Tap the pencil icon to edit.
  2. Tap “Remove Category”.
  3. Review the warning before tapping "Remove Category".
